My name is Christian Perry, and I am a Sophomore at Indiana University Northwest. I am currently studying CIS (Computer Information Systems) and I am also working on getting certifications so it shows to others that I have a good understanding of technology.
Something noteworthy about me is I enjoy serving others. I am someone who enjoys going above and beyond with my work and I like improving. I like taking on additional task and I am very motivated to work.
Ever since I was 12 years old, I have gone to a lot of Video Game tournaments. I love playing Super Smash Bros. and I like traveling around the midwest to play this game. During my Junior year of high school, I had won my very first tournament, and this sparked an interest in me becoming a very competitive person. I believe that if it weren't for this game, I wouldn't be as competitive as I am now. I really enjoy trying my hardest now and giving it all I got because I believe I have a lot of potential in myself if I try hard enough.
When I was in the 5th grade, my family wanted me to play an instrument, and so when band orientation began I decided to pick the Trumpet. I believe this was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made in my life because I have learnt many valuable lessons in life from Band.
During Middle School and High School, I had learned how to become a leader and how to instruct others. During my senior year of High School, I was motivated more than ever to graduate, so I gave it my absolute all and became a section leader for my trumpet section. I gave my section advice for how to play music, how to angle their horns, and controlling their dynamics. Due to my efforts, my trumpet section was prepared for their next school year and they saw an improvement to their play. Alongside becoming a section leader, I had also wrote my band director new scores. A few songs we have received in High School a few accessibility issues, so I manually rewrote hundreds of music scores to fix these errors. Because of my hard work, I have received the #iRockWithRocky scholarship and the Raczka-Stochel Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship.
After I finished High School and moving onto college, I had joined the Redhawk Orchestra Club. I enjoy playing and writing music for my friends. I wanted to be apart of a college club and Redhawk Orchestra is an awesome club to be apart of.
During my Senior year of High School, I decided that I wanted to become a Database Administrator. My family was not able to support me financially during college, so majority of my tuition and textbooks had to be covered by me working. I began working at a McDonalds as a Crew Member, and this taught me a lot about discipline and time management. After working there for a year, I was promoted to a Crew Trainer position, and I was able to serve other workers by showing them how to properly do their job safely and effectively without issues.
After working at McDonalds' for a year, I decided to join Sams Club, and this job allowed me to directly work with customers to get the items they want. I was in charge of everything meat and sea food related in the Home Meal Solutions department, and this was a large responsibility that I had to handle by myself. I got a lot of experience with customer service and got experience working with a heavy workload.
I stayed with Sam's Club for 6 months and then I decided to join Dollar General as a warehouse worker. This position taught me a lot about the importance of optimization and efficiently doing task. During my first six weeks of employment, I was promoted to a Shipping Clerk position. This position allows me to gain experience with database management and I get to serve warehouse employees by giving information for their assignments.
